Sunday, June 6, 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM: Ice Cream Social. Learn about the science of making ice cream and take a hike to the historic salt ponds at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center to collect salt from a bygone era. Then return to the center to crank out delicious ice cream sundaes. All ages. Fee: $6. The center is located at 4901 Breakwater Avenue in Hayward. Monday, June 7, 7:00 PM: Sunset Walk in upper Codornices watershed. Explore nature, history, and great views in the upper Codornices Creek watershed. Come prepared with appropriate foot gear and walking sticks if necessary. This walk includes lots of staircases and some uneven trails. The two hour long walk will conclude with refreshments. Meet at upper parking lot of Glendale-LaLoma Park on Glendale near Campus Ave, Berkeley. Parking space is limited, so allow for time to find street parking or use AC Transit Line 65 instead. Tuesday, June 8, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM: Over The Hills Gang Walk at Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline. EBRPD invites hikers 55 years of age and older to join Supervising Naturalist Dave Zuckerman for nature study, fitness and fun in this series of monthly excursions. EBRPD: 510-544-2233.

Saturday, June 12, 10:00 AM to Noon: Bay Trail Bike Ride: Bring Your Own Boat. Saturday, June 12, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM: Brooks Island Voyage: Bring Your Own Boat. Join an EBRPD Naturalist at the Richmond Marina to paddle across the Richmond Harbor Channel to Brooks Island. Explore the island's natural and cultural history, and enjoy views from its rocky peak. For experienced boaters who can provide their own kayak and safety gear. Saturday, June 26, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM: Crab Cove Bird Walk. Join a naturalist from the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center on a trip to Alameda's shoreline. Saturday, June 26, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM: Brooks Island Adventure. Join California Canoe & Kayak at the Richmond Marina for a short paddle in double kayaks across bay water. Paddle along Brooks Island preserved shoreline and enjoy the spectacular views of San Francisco. Then come ashore to enjoy a naturalist guided two-mile hike around the island normally closed to visitors. A parking fee will be charged at the Marina. Fee: Resident $85; Non-Resident $95. Wednesday, July 7th, 5:30pm: Magic Rock Nature Walk. Join Naturalist Bob Flasher on a walk into Wildcat Canyon Park to explore creek restoration projects and visit a magic Ohlone rock in Wildcat Creek that attracts salmon and steelhead back up the creek each year.
